Sign in with GitHub

You can use a GitHub account to create a CodeSoh account and to sign in afterwards. CodeSoh reads your GitHub login, your name, and your verified email address, and nothing else.

Create an account from GitHub

To create a CodeSoh account from GitHub, follow these steps:

1. Go to accounts.soh.gg and click Continue with GitHub.
2. Approve the request on GitHub.
3. On the Finish your account page, in the Handle field, enter the name that identifies you across CodeSoh.
4. In the Display name field, enter the name that other people see.
5. If the Email address field is empty, enter your address. When GitHub supplied a verified address, the field shows that address and can't be changed.
6. Click Create account.

The account is created with your GitHub account connected to it. If GitHub supplied a verified address and you kept it, your email address is verified already. Otherwise a verification link goes to the address that you entered.

The page that asks for your handle works for 15 minutes. After that, start again from the sign-in page.

Connect GitHub to an account you already have

If you click Continue with GitHub and your GitHub address already belongs to a CodeSoh account that isn't connected to GitHub, no second account is created. Instead, the Connect GitHub to your account page names the address and asks for that account's password.

To connect and sign in, follow these steps:

1. In the Password field, enter the password of your CodeSoh account.
2. Click Connect and sign in.

If the account has two-step verification, the second step follows. From then on, Continue with GitHub signs you in to that account. To connect from inside your account instead, see Connected accounts.

Sign in afterwards

Click Continue with GitHub. Because your GitHub account is already connected, you're signed straight in, without the handle page. If your account also has two-step verification, the second step is still asked for.

An account created from GitHub has no password

Your account signs in through GitHub alone until you set a password. To set one, see Change your password. A password lets you sign in without GitHub, and it's needed before you can disconnect GitHub. For more information, see Connected accounts.
